LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

We Love Lucy

Lucy is a creature of habit.  And she can develop a habit very quickly.  She is nearing the end of her medications for the hot spot.  (Which has healed nicely.)  She gets medication three times a day.  It's not the medicine that she is concerned with.  It's the little pill sandwich that carries it. Those sandwiches are even better since Dad couldn't find the regular cheese and got some mascarpone instead.

Another quality Lucy shares with most dogs is optimism.  If she thinks it is time for something, then it must be time.  She knows that one of her pills comes in the evening.  She just isn't sure just what time.  One evening she decided that pill time was 6:45.

Hey, Mom.  I think it's pill time, don't you?

No Lucy, it's not time.  I'm watching "News Hour."
I'll just stand here until it's time.
No, you'll have to move out of the way.

How about this?  Is this out of the way?
Yes, but it doesn't look very comfortable.

Guess it's just as well that you fell asleep.  The pills are not due until 9.
Of course I might have to move before then.

Persistence and optimism are hallmark qualities in our Lucy.  She is full of both.  It will be hard for her on Saturday.  The last pills are today.

Our quote is from Helen Keller:
"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.  Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."

HAVE A MOST WONDERFUL WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

Dear Lucy...I hope the weekend and new routine are not too hard on her. Glad she is well, but who wouldn't miss those little cheese sandwiches?

Oh sweet sweet Lucy! I'm hoping that those 9pm pills will be replaced with something as yummy...or at least some extra hugs and kisses!

Oh Lucky, you are such a sweetheart! We let mom know 15 minutes before its time to eat, just in case she forgets. And 5 minutes before the alarm goes off, just in case she didn't set it! lol

A cute post ... you are like my daughter who can understand every "word" that her beloved dogs say to her !

maybe the treats can continue? just a small bit so she doesn't go through full-blown withdrawal?

Wasn't that piece about prosthetic arms on the News Hour a marvel? I'm so glad the reporter is doing this story and showing us more tonight!

Have a good weekend.

Aww, can't you still give her the sandwich minus the pill? Funny how dogs tell time. Callie is always trying to push her meal time up by quiet staring.

What a sweet face! Perhaps you should convert pill time to treat time!!!!

Did she hold you hostage until 9PM?

Enjoy your weekend.

This is such a cute post. Dear Lucy......such a darling.
Nella is not a foodie so with regard to food never really bothers to worry.
Daily walks are a different matter :)

My Mother is a very negative person, bless her. I have tried to learn from her mistakes, as she spends most of her life in fear.
I try to be as optimistic as I can......and for sure HOPE is always top of my list.

Another lovely post, tku Lucy.

Who wouldn't look forward to pills if packed between cheese? Lucy is one smart lady!

Our Lily is needy & cautious but slowly moving to optimism & confidence. We often wonder about her early life experiences....?

Our new boy Bob is one of those persistent optimists -- mainly about being taken out for a romp. Is it time now?

I love her optimism. She is persistent, and ultimately it pays off with yummy treats and medicine. She's so cute!

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Miley's - Yes, Lucy is right on the dot for dinner time. She had a little more trouble with the timing of the pills.

Tara - Yes the prosthetic arm story is very moving. And will help so many people.

KB - No, she slept for only a few minutes on the footrest and then went over to her bed and the bee pillow.

Cheryl - strange how some people are not as optimistic as others. Glad you are filled with hope.

Bug - I tried Nutella once and couldn't figure out the appeal. Perhaps I needed to add peanut butter.

Troutbirder - That Lily is one lucky dog to be with you and Mrs. T

If you have mascarpone you might as well make a tiramisu with a generous splash of Kahlua.
