Celebrating the Life of Ellie

I had a wonderful blogging break.  Our daughter and I traveled the mountains and had perfect weather.  Until the day she went home in a terrible early snowstorm.  More about that later.

Today marks one year since our beloved Ellie died suddenly.  While we still miss her every single day, the pain is less and we spend more time reflecting on her life than on her death.

Ellie's first day as part of our family

Her favorite little yellow duck which she carried with her constantly.

 She loved the Wisconsin snow

She was a perfect dog.  Friendly, amusing, and loyal

My favorite picture of Ellie.  Standing in the hall entrance pleading with me to come out of my study and spend some time with her.

I've been lucky enough to have two "heart dogs."  My first heart dog, an English Springer Spaniel named Tipsy Pudding was with us for sixteen years.  Our next Springer Spaniel (my husband's heart dog) was named Penny Lane and was with us for 15 years.  Our Ellie was gone too soon, barely ten.

Dichi Sirius Eleanor Rose, we were so very fortunate to have you in our lives and you will never leave our hearts.  Dear sweet Ellie:  June 21, 2003 to November 10, 2013.

How lucky we are to have these wonderful companions.
How lucky are they to have been so loved.
I miss dear Ellie on your Friday posts.....she was very much one of a pair.
I am glad to read that you can now reflect on her life and smile.....it is all part of the journey.

So pleased you had such a fun time with your daughter.

Ahhh--what a wonderful tribute to Eleanor Rose (Sweet Ellie)... I can only imagine how much you miss her--even now... They become such a special part of our lives...

Glad you had a nice time with your daughter... We enjoyed our October time in and around the Maggie Valley area... One of the prettiest drives we took was Highway 215 from Rosman almost to Waynesville. GORGEOUS back road...

Hope you enjoy the new fireplace/logs... We LOVE ours. What a great decision we made....

We are getting ready for another big cold front coming here on Thursday... I think Winter is really coming! We are SO busy in the yard this week.

Hugs,
Betsy

What a sweet tribute to your Ellie. It is hard to believe it was a year ago that she crossed over to green meadows. She was gorgeous, such a sweet spirit. I hope that joyous memories fill you heart. I hope you stay warm, we are in the midst of a snowing day with four/five more to follow; I'm just not ready for it yet.
hugs, Noreen

Hugs, dear one. I loved her from afar...we all did. Gone too soon, but never forgotten...her and her two tennis balls :-)

Hard to believe it has been a year. I know how you feel. I still call my new dog Mighty most of the time. Those special ones never leave us. You were both lucky to have had the time you did together.

Such a good dog -- and I love the term 'heart dog' -- I've been blesses with quite a few.

You brought tears to my eyes. A year... How can that be?

She was as lucky to be a "heart dog" as you were to have her. Like my sweet K, she'll live on in your heart forever and ever.

Ellie was one of the cutest puppies ever, and that cuteness grew into a soft beauty when she grew up. I can see in her eyes how special she was.

Oh, my. A year? Memories remain and make us glad even as we are sad. Heart dog? I think I have had two--Tipper (who also died too young) and now Ziva.

Ellie was a special girl. We lost so many great dogs last year within the blogging world.

It's hard to believe a year has passed already. Ellie was such a beauty. I love seeing these photos of her and remembering. Such a sweetheart.

How can it be a year already? My grand-dog, a chocolate Lab, died last month. She had a long life - over 13 years, but my grandchildren are heartbroken. Your Ellie was very beautiful. My heart still misses our Golden who has been gone 9 years.

I love these photos of her. What a doll. I'll refrain from showing you photos of our golden, Boo.

I'm always struck by the enormous loss of a beloved animal...it's the downside to falling in love with these creatures.

Glad you had a good blog break with your daughter!

That very first photo of her. . . oh my goodness, she was precious! She was such a beautiful dog that her clowning is extra sweet.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Cheryl - It is a journey, isn't it?

Betsy - We also like 215.

NanaNor - We saw the deep freeze coming to you. It's much colder than normal around here but no snow.

KB - She was one special dog all right. Just as K was in your life.
