Fridays are Golden

The simplest of things often give us pause. I recently had my car serviced and waited more than two hours at the dealership. The time passed pleasantly while I read and listened to good music. As I was driving home I realized that the time spent in the car dealership had been the most quiet and soothing time I had in some weeks.

Aware that I so enjoyed the quiet time at a car dealership of all places, I realized that I am simply trying to do too much. Taking inventory of the things that must be done, I have decided to suspend blogging for the month of January.

I'm hoping that February will bring time for me to get outside and show you more of our winter mountains. Time to take the Golden Girls on the trails and show you how beautiful they are when they are running. Time to sit with my coffee and read your blogs, something I have truly missed. Perhaps even time to lie down for a snooze in the afternoon sun like Lucy and Ellie.

We are all doing well and things are progressing well toward normal. Not typically one to look back at the past year, I can assure you that I am delighted to say goodbye to 2009.
Thank you all for your kind comments on my blog. I have read and cherished every one of them. I will follow your blogs as time permits and hope to be back up and running in a month.
HAVE A WONDERFUL AND BLESSED NEW YEAR!

  2. I have found that I have also been trying to do too much. And have not been posting quite as much. In 2010 I plan to not concentrate so much on quantity of posts, but on quality of posts. We'll see how that goes.
Good luck to you and your family in 2010. I hope it is peaceful and prosperous for you all!

  6. Enjoy your January! Will check back in a month.
It appears the dogs have it figured out, so imitating them should have great rewards.
Meanwhile, I must start on my "pay it forward" project for you--yup, I have put it off too long.

  7. Sometimes when I'm waiting for something like my car, I think that too. A well needed rest!
Have a great month off, I'm sure it will fly by.
Happy New Year my dear friends! May it be a good one :)

  12. I hope you enjoy the time off. You sound like you've been awfully busy lately, so I hope the hiatus affords you some time to rest up and do the things you love most.

  13. If you enjoyed time waiting at a car dealership, I would say you are definitely in need of slowing down!

I too am glad to bid adieu to 2009 It hasn't been a very good year for us.

I hope that 2010 is a slower, more relaxed year for you! Enjoy your time off!

  15. We can't argue with you about doing too much. You even have a doctor's excuse.

I love the picture of the girls in that last picture. I'd like to see a video of how they got into that position.

Can't really call this "time off" since you're still doing nursing duty. Hope you can find some time to knit and read.

  17. Happy Happy New Year, NCW! And to the girls and husband and whole darn family. Watch the mountains for me until I can get there. Perhaps in 2010, we will meet face-to-face. That would be lovely.

  18. Do enjoy your month off,... or longer if you need to. One of the things I've learned in the past year and a half of blogging is that we are a "family" of sorts, and we support each other. So my friend, relax, play with the girls, do whatever you want to do! See you out there eventually! :)

  19. Hi Carolyn, You have had a rough year.. I pray that 2010 is MUCH better for both of you. Take all the time you need.. We all need bloggy breaks occasionally. I love blogging--but it does take up alot of time. On the other hand though, I have met so many wonderful people through blogging. I wouldn't change that for the world.

    Take care of yourself.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  24. I am sure I speak for many when I say I will miss your January posts. BUT we all need time to 'just be'. I fully understand the need to relax and just do the simple things in life and have the time to appreciate them.

Have a wonderful month....I wish you and yours a healthy and happy New Year.......the snooze in the afternoon sounds wonderful......

  32. Be well Carolyn. Peace and quiet, time to enjoy the simple things is where I try to live also. Winter here is the time for reading and reflection. I will wait patiently for you to reappear when the time is right. I still chuckle whenever I think of going back to a certain Wisconsin city with its unique and well named architecture. :)

  37. The only breed I love almost as much as German Shepherds are Goldies. We had one for 17 years. She was actually not a dog, but a person in a dog suit. Thanks for the photos of your beauties.

  41. I've been wondering where you've been ... just today you popped up in my bloglines notification with two entries ... this one a whole month late! I'm glad you took some pause to gather up your defenses/resources. Good to see you back up and blogging again. I don't blog every day anymore. Too much.
