It's a scientific fact; the sun sets in the West. But every now and then when conditions are just right the colors of the sunset spread across the entire sky. I caught such an occurrence recently. It was absolutely amazing. All of these photographs are taken from my yard as I walked a circle around the house, photographing the sky from all directions.
Wow - beautiful! I'm usually too transfixed to remember my camera...
ReplyDeleteThe glorious sunsets are one advantage of living in the mountains, although they don't often fill the sky the ways your sunset did. The photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJust amazing. I love a pink sky..yours seems HOT pink!!
ReplyDeleteIt's inspiring. I love Mother Nature's displays of art.
ReplyDeleteI love sunsets. I like to just look at my office window and watch the sun set over the mountains. It's such a beautiful and peaceful time. These are really great photos. Thank you for visiting my blog. The poem,"Crepe Roses," was about my aunt who is deceased now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sunset. We live in a hollow (not that I pronounce it hollow - grins), so we watch the sun set over one ridge and rise over another. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful.....wonderful photographs. I have never seen a sunset like that......
ReplyDeleteVery unusual...but extremely neat.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have also felt as if it was surreal..being able to look all around me at the same coloring..beautiful shots!!
What a treat! Thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteLoved your comment on my blog...
I find that retired nurses and teachers have a lot in common.

Pink clouds. So beautiful and my favorite type of sunset.
ReplyDeleteI love those evenings when there is just enough cloud cover to bounce the setting sun rays all around.
ReplyDeleteWe occasionally get those sunsets with the same colours when there is fairly heavy cloud cover. Beautifully captured in your pictures!
ReplyDeleteWow--Carolyn, to see s sunset ALL over is amazing. What gorgeous colors your sky was!!! I'll bet that is rare.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. The 360 degree pink sky tends to happen here in the winter rather than the summer. Wow.
ReplyDeleteA lovely time of day. Probably my favorite.
ReplyDeleteOh those photos are so nice! We just love sunsets!! Hugs Joey and Kealani

ReplyDeleteYes, the very best sunsets light the whole sky. Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that too - we get the sunrises, but every so often we can see the colors of the sunset from our porch ! :)
ReplyDeleteFunny again Carolyn...
ReplyDeleteEvery year since I was small we always went camping on Mt.Desert Island, so to keep it going I started taking my girls when they were just babes!!! (NO camping any longer though)
I do know 'College of the Atlantic'...We visited & looked into it for my oldest about 4 years ago...THEN she changed to Archeology...Lots of Traveling in far off lands (like the thoughts I whispered in their ears since Babes, It Worked)
