LIFE'S BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS

Not So Golden

First...I had a wonderful visit with my friend despite the very unusual 8-inch snowfall we had. She lives in WI where they have had another horrid winter. It was 64 degrees when she arrived and she really enjoyed the warm sunshine. It started raining and she laughed that it would have been snow back in Wisconsin. I assured her that we definitely would not have any snow here. Well, the snow started on Saturday afternoon and by Sunday evening we had eight inches! More snow than we have seen since we moved to NC. So we laughed and enjoyed each other's company.

I was excited this morning to be able to post some pictures of the Golden Girls playing in the snow. It was a lovely snow, hanging heavy on the branches.

When I booted up my computer, I received an ominous message that it couldn't start because the systems configuration file was missing or corrupted! So I'm using my husband's laptop to let you know that I will be offline and not posting again for a while. Of course, the current photographs are on my computer. I'll be taking my laptop in for diagnosis and treatment (and hopefully for a cure) this afternoon.

I will try to find your blogs and do some reading this weekend to catch up. Thank goodness many of you have a scroll I can use to access other blogs.

Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and do something fun!

Hi Carolyn, Glad you had a wonderful visit with your friend, even if it did snow...

That crazy snow storm came down through west TN--went east through Al/GA and then north through your area. It went all around us and we didn't get much at all--but some areas around Memphis has 10 inches.

Also, my friends were at their mountain cabin in Otto, NC (south of Franklin)--and they got NO snow at all either... SO--the storm had a strange path, didn't it???

We are going to Arkansas all next week to celebrate George's birthday. Hope you get your computer fixed.

Have a great week ahead.
Hugs,
Betsy

I hope it isn't anything fatal with your laptop. About two weeks before I went on vacation, my camera started acting up. I have a service contract on it, but they said it could be up to 4 weeks before it was repaired. I was so upset and moping at the prospect of either taking a malfunctioning camera on vacation or not having a camera at all. My husband saw my distress and bought me my dream camera (Nikon D90)! Then we put my D40 in the shop.

I've got the best husband!

Thanks, everyone.

Betsy - Have a great trip!

Melissa - They think it is the hard drive. Yes, I have a service contract as well, thank goodness.

Carol - Oh yes, I finished it in a couple of days. Great read. I'm hoping to see the author in Asheville.

Cheryl - I will definitely visit the new Golden owner.

Science guy - I did think of a hammer!!! I have no tolerance at all for expensive appliances that should just work and suddenly don't.

Hope your computer woes are not too bad. We've recently gone through something similar and I am now typing on a brand new computer that we just got 4 hours ago. The old one finally bit the dust. Enjoy the snow while it lasts. It was 79 here today at the coast.

This sounds so typical--when I visited my daughter for the first time after she moved to Arizona, it rained--the first time she had ever seen rain there during the daytime:) I'm sure you had a wonderful visit anyway despite the snow.

I do hope you get your laptop fixed without too much problem; computer troubles are so frustrating. And here I came over to see the photos of your Goldens:) I did scroll down, though, and saw Lucy and Elle on an earlier post--they are beautiful! I hope my Sophie grows up to be just as beautiful. Thanks for visiting me; I enjoyed all your posts, especially the tribute to Erma Bombeck; her final thoughts are good words to remember.

Your friend probably got a good chuckle from your snowfall :o)

Take care of that computer. I find problems with technology to be very distressing...
